Gold Kist is the second largest chicken processor in the United States. It has nine divisions, which include 12 processing plants, 19 hatcheries, 12 feed mills, 10 distribution centers and 3 by-product plants. These operations process 14 million birds per week and employ more than 18,000 people. Gold Kist products are sold to customers all over the United States and in addition approximately 8 percent of production is exported to countries around the world.

Gold Kist invested approximately $85 million dollars to construct the Russellville plant which now employs 2100 people, operating 3 shifts around the clock. Gold Kist Russellville uses 10 million gallons of water in the processing of 1.44 million chickens every week.
